Western Province, under the stewardship of Rory Kleinveldt, has announced their squad for the 2026-27 season and will be without Beauran Hendricks, Mthiwekhaya Nabe and Jono Bird.

Nationally contracted players Tony de Zorzi, David Bedingham and Kyle Verreynne will stay affiliated to the Mother City-based provincial side. A major boost is the retention of Nandre Burger, who lost his central contract due to an injury-affected year.

The bowling department, along with Burger, has experienced players in Dane Paterson, George Linde, Kyle Simmonds, Eddie Moore, and Tshepo Moreki.

WP has handed contracts for the first time to Josh Breed, who became an important member of the squad last season, and Mbulelo Dube.

Former SA U19 players fast bowler Raeeq Daniels and all-rounder Oliver Whitehead have been retained, but there was no space for former SA U19 captain Juan James.

The batting in the team will be covered by Daniel Smith, who had an excellent season as a batter and captain of the side. Jiveshan Pillay and Joshua van Heerden are expected to perform next season after their debut season, where they were acclimatising to conditions in Cape Town and the WP dressing room.

Valentine Kitime, who had his best professional season, will be hoping to build on that solid foundation. Mihlali Mpongwana did not have the best of seasons due to injury, and the Nyanga East-born cricketer will be hoping that this off-season he can regain full fitness and push for national honours again.

Contracted players: David Bedingham (CSA), Kyle Verreynne (CSA), Tony de Zorzi (CSA), Dane Paterson, Daniel Smith, Eddie Moore, George Linde, Jiveshan Pillay, Joshua van Heerden, Josh Breed, Kyle Simmonds, Mihlali Mpongwana, Mbulelo Dube, Nandre Burger, Oliver Whitehead, Raeeq Daniels, Tshepo Moreki, Valentine Kitime Bongile Mfunelwa (HP), Kashief Josephs(HP).
