Ryan Rickelton scored a 32 ball 83 to help Mumbai Indians record their third victory of the season against Lucknow Super Giants.
The Giants had first use of the pitch and they posted 228 for 5. They would have scored more runs as Nicholas Pooran was in a destructive mood as he scored 21 ball 63 scoring at a strike-rate of 300. It took his MI Cape Town teammate Corbin Bosch to remove him and he followed that with with another important wicket of Mitchell March (40) in the same over.
The Giants scoring tempo was disturbed but Aiden Markram (31) and Himmat Singh (40) with their unbroken partnership of 68 from 47 balls were able to take LSG to a competitive score of 228.
MI started the of 229 well with a first wicket partnership of 143 from 65 balls between Rickelton and Rohit Sharma. The South African wicketkeeper batter scored 83 from 32 which included 8 sixes at a strike-rate of 259. With that knock Rickelton is currently on 380 runs from 8 innings in the tournament and the sixth highest runscorer in the tournament.
That foundation laid by Rickelton made the chase much easier for the rest of the batters to take MI to victory. Rohit top scored with 84 from 44 balls in the match.
Their next opposition is a big clash against second place, Royal Challenge Bengaluru on 10 May.
