London Spirit went down for the second time this season in The Hundred, courtesy of Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaardt's Southern Brave, who won by 5 wickets. The Southampton-based franchise has gone 5 matches without a loss this season.

The Spirit batted first but could only manage to score 114 runs in their 100 balls. Nadine de Klerk top-scored at number 6 with 38 from 28 balls, and she was followed by another South African all-rounder, Marizanne Kapp, with 34 from 27 balls. The only other Spirit batter to reach double figures was Grace Harris with 16 runs.

Seven of the eight wickets were picked up by spinners, with Sophie Molineux taking three, English leg-spinner Sarah Glenn and former England U19 star Tilly Corteen-Coleman picking two wickets each. Both de Klerk and Kapp fell to the 19-year-old. While Issy Wong was economical, the only seamer to get a wicket was Lauren Bell.

In the chase of 115, both South Africans in the Braves squad, Lee (0) and Wolvaardt (13), did not perform well. Lee was dismissed by Kapp, and Wolvaardt was de Klerk's first of two victims.

The Spirit had the chase, but 14 wides and Harris's 10 balls going for 21 runs did not help matters in a chase that needed disciplined bowling. The Braves finally reached the finish line with seven balls to spare, thanks to contributions from Maia Bouchier (43) and Molineux (23).

Kapp and de Klerk finished with 2 wickets each, and the Spirit captain Charlie Dean was also among the wicket-takers.

The Braves are currently firmly on top as the only side yet to lose, and the Spirit are in fourth position.
