pic cred: Durham CCC
Western Province and Proteas middle-order batter David Bedingham seems to have found his non-stop scoring form after scoring his third consecutive century for Durham.
The Wynberg Boys' High School alumnus scored 147 in a draw between Durham and Middlesex in Division Two of the English County Championship. The draw has placed Durham in first place on the log after four matches. Middlesex, captained by Joburg Super Kings batter Leus du Plooy, are currently in fifth place.
Unfortunately, Bedingham could not inspire his side to victory as the match ended in a draw. As for his personal form, he has scored a century in his last three matches, and Durham has only played four matches, which underscores his excellent form.
His century was in a winning cause against Gloucestershire, and that was followed by an unbeaten 129 against Lancashire. The amazing thing about that innings was his 290-run partnership for the third wicket with Emilio Gay, which took them to victory.
Bedingham is currently the second leading run-scorer with 471 in the competition, and in first place is his teammate Gay with only two runs more than Bedingham.
It remains to be seen if he can score a fourth consecutive century in his next match against Worcestershire, which starts on May 8. Bedingham will have to deal with Beyers Swanepoel in his next match as the former Lions pace bowler plays for Worcestershire.
