Eastern Province has won promotion to the Hollywoodbets Pro Series for the first time since Cricket South Africa turned women's cricket professional.
The Gqeberha-based side went to the Division II week in Mangaung, having won all of their One Day matches in their group against Boland, Kei, Northern Cape, and EC Iinyathi.
The other group had a strong-looking Free State, and they had reinforcements for the week in Palesa Mapoo and Anica Swart from Garden Route Badgers. Limpopo came to the week in good form as well, and the Easterns were going to be a threat with Ashleigh van Wyk, Mieke van Voorst, Robyn Dormehl, Thelma Makhubela, and Mpumelelo Mashiloane.
On day one, Eastern Province swept Mpumalanga Rhinos by 155 runs. On day two, the experienced Jana Nell ensured they secured victory over Tuskers by 4 wickets. Things on day three went a bit shaky; chasing a low score, they won by 3 wickets against the Knights. On day 4, Proteas U19 player Cayliegh Wanckel (64) and Zizipho Mdebuka (52) put on strong performances to beat a strong Eastern side by 90 runs. On the final day, Razeena Manack scored an unbeaten century to ensure her side beat Impala Limpopo by 119 runs, ensuring Eastern Province finished the season unbeaten in One Day cricket.
With the promotion of Eastern Province, that means St. George's Park will host both men's and women's CSA Division One fixtures for the first time.
